1997年從清華大學(xué)畢業(yè)后,余長源赴美留學(xué)。在美國邁阿密大學(xué)電子與計(jì)算機(jī)工程系,他跟隨麥克·R.王(Michael R. Wang)教授研究光電器件,開始與“光”有了更為深入的接觸。1999年碩士畢業(yè)后,他進(jìn)入南加州大學(xué)電子工程系讀博,師從國際光纖通信領(lǐng)域的著名專家,美國工程院院士、光學(xué)學(xué)會主席艾倫·E.維爾納(Alan E.Willner)教授,于2005年獲得博士學(xué)位。由此,他完成了從半導(dǎo)體與激光基礎(chǔ)理論到光電器件再到光纖通信系統(tǒng)一段完整的光電信息科技的學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)歷,“光”成為他接下來生命里一直追逐的目標(biāo)。
